Due to safety we do not encourage solitary walkers; walks will only run with a minimum of 2 people.
Cancelations less then 24 hours prior to departure are non refundable.
- Included in price:
- Two nights camping permits, barge transfers, drop offs (one day four wheel driving on Fraser Island) and pickup from River Heads to Hervey Bay, camp equipment; 2 person tent (shared between 2), sleeping mat, light weight cooking equipment, maps and itineraries. All permits and transfers organized.
- Able to be purchased/hired:
- Light weight hikers backpacks $10 per trip Sleeping bags and torches can be hired at an additional $10 per item. First aid kit provided - only $15 if used.
- What to bring:
- Bring your own food, good walking shoes, insect repellant, sunscreen, hat, 1 - 2lt water container, lighter, swimmers, camera, torch, towel, mobile phone for emergency contact.

- This walk is not recommended for children under 10 years of age, however this is at the discretion of the supervising guardian. Fraser Dingo 4wd Hire n Hikes does not take any responsibility for children. Child rate is valid for children up to 12 years of age.

- Meet in Hervey Bay at Fraser Dingo 4wd Hire n Hike at 7.30 am for vehicle pickup to take the 8.30am to Fraser island for your 4wd day trip – to be advised by proprietor. Return from Kingfisher Bay Resort, take the 2.00 pm or 5.00 pm barge back to River Heads where your Fraser Dingo pickup to Hervey Bay awaits.

A unique choice only offered by Fraser Walkabouts includes one day self-drive four wheel driving along 75 mile beach, then 2 amazing days to relax and unwind walking back from Fraser's eastern coast to the west coast past beautiful pristine lakes and camping in secluded hikers camps away from the stress of everyday life, let yourself experience both sides of Fraser Island!
Day 1 - allows you to 4wd along the beach seeing beach attractions like, Eli Creek and the Maheno Ship Wreck and possibly a scenic flight over Fraser Island (additional cost) but the adventure doesn’t stop here. After a refreshing swim down Eli Creek get ready for the first part of your hike into Lake Wabby; Walk 3 km into unique Lake Wabby and the hikers camp for your first secluded night under the stars.
Day 2 - swim in the emerald waters before packing up and taking the hikers coast-to-coast track through majestic untouched forest to Lake McKenzie, (12km). Camp at the Lake McKenzie hikers camp right beside the beautiful blue lake. Have the lake to your selves and experience its beauty at sunset or sunrise, maybe full moon or just the beautiful stars.
Day 3 - Enjoy an easy 8km hike out via Kingfisher Bay Resort for a few celebratory drinks or lunch at the end of your trek.
