Tour Description
Moreton Island 4WD Explorer Day Tour
Come and explore the Island by 4WD. With no formed roads on the Island this can be an Adventure by itself! Moreton Island is 98% National Park and remains a true wilderness destination with some of Australia’s most beautiful beaches and yes you can swim in the sea! Approximately 38 km long and 8 km wide, it is located about 40 km offshore from Brisbane.
Included in the tour:
• Transfer from Brisbane City to ferry (return).
• Ferry cruise across beautiful Moreton Bay through the Bay Islands to Moreton Island (return).
• Travel up the 38 km long Eastern Beach towards the imposing Cape Moreton. Along the way you should see some of the many bird species common to the Island including Pied Oyster Catchers, Sea Eagles, Crested Terns, Kites and Pelicans.
*** Desert Dune TOBOGGANING and SAND SURFING. Looking for some "extreme"fun? As seen on TV and one of Moreton's most popular activities. Awesome fun for young and old - speeds of up to 50kph can be reached down the face of the "sand wave". Great opportunity to try this fast growing sport only available in a few places in the World. Moreton has some of the Worlds’ largest sand hills.
• Visit Blue Lagoon for a refreshing swim and soak up the Ti Tree oil that is infused into the Lake by the surrounding Melaleuca trees.
• Our lunch stop will be at our covered facilities at North Point which is only a short stroll from the areas main attractions: Yellow Patch, Honeymoon Bay, and the Champagne Pool.
• Visit the State’s oldest Lighthouse at Cape Moreton and take in the commanding views of Moreton Bay, the Pacific Ocean and the Glass House Mountains from the Headland.
• Spot dolphin, manta rays, turtles and whales (June to October) from Cape Moreton.
• Travel through the eucalypt forest featuring the beautiful Xanthorrhoea (Grass Trees), Banksia, Scribbly Gums and many other species.
• Visit the huge aboriginal midden site and WW2 historical sites and hear about the history of the Island. (access subject to tide conditions).
• Picnic lunch included.
Moreton Island is a wilderness destination and travel is only possible by 4WD vehicle over rough bush tracks and the beach. Tours may not be suitable for persons with medical conditions. Sites visited may occasionally change due to weather, track and tide conditions but we always endeavour to give you a tour to remember.
