Tour Description
A totally personalised tour for that romantic getaway in the privacy of your own luxury Limousine, suits up to 4-5 guests. The Tour stars from your hotel at 9.30am for a leisurely day tasting wine at Australia’s premier cool-climate wine region. As we amble our way through the City, your guide will give you a brief description of the history of Adelaide and point out some of the highlights that we may encounter on our journey to the Adelaide Hills. Once in the Hills, you may want to take in the panoramic view of Adelaide from Mt Lofty summit, or visit Cleland Wildlife Park, our first tasting is at Petaluma, which is the cellar door for the well-known Bridgewater Flour Mill. We then go for a casual drive to Hahndorf; you may want to go for a stroll through this historic German village settled in the 1840s. Lunch will be at the German Arms Hotel (a main meal of your choice & a glass of wine is included in the tour), we then venture on and explore what the rest of the Adelaide Hills has to offer. Our next stop is at Maximilian’s, Shaw & Smith, Nepenthe, Johnston, Bird in Hand, Howard’s Vineyard or Tilbrook Estate to name but a few. Fancy discovering a new boutique winery or choose your own destinations ~ for Wine or Reason will take you there!
In the Adelaide Hills, you'll find South Australia's oldest wine region with more than 50 wineries continuing a tradition that started way back in 1845. Today, some of Australia's most elegant cool climate sparkling and still wines are produced in the region, from grape varieties including Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, for the production of sparkling and table wines from the coolest areas; Riesling, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot are in the slightly warmer areas; and Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Shiraz are in the lower altitudes. Twenty-five cellar doors offer wine tasting and sales. Mt Lofty is the highest point south of the Flinders Ranges. At 710 metres above sea level, the summit landing provides you with breathtaking views of the city’s landmarks and coastline, extending as far as Kangaroo Island (more than 100 kilometers away) on a clear day. Enjoy the thrill of having your picture taken with koalas at ‘Koala Close Up’ session in Cleland Wildlife. The historic 1860's Bridgewater Mill, nestled in the heart of the Adelaide Hills, also known as the Old Rumbler, still turns today. It is an award winning restaurant and cellar door. Hahndorf is Australia’s oldest surviving German settlement, settled by Silesian & Prussian settlers fleeing religious persecution. There’s still a strong German flavour in Hahndorf, most evident in the smallgood outlets and German bakeries that line the bustling main street. There are fascinating little roadside stalls and farmers’ markets are dotted around the region, including the Battunga Country Growers Market at Macclesfield. There you'll find local fruit, organic vegetables, herbs, wood-fired organic bread every Sunday from 10am to 3pm.
Whatever the experience ... be prepared for the time of your life!
