Some medical conditions may prevent you from diving. For example: heart disease, asthma, epilepsy or diabetes. If you are unsure of a particular medical condition, please check with us prior to reservation. Australian medical standards are different to those overseas. A medical obtained in another country will most likely NOT be valid in Australia.
You are also required to obtain a valid dive medical. If you are under 18 or over 45, we do recommend you get your medical done before the course. Your medical can be done in Cairns at the 24 Hour Medical Centre, please call 4052 1119 upon arrival in Cairns – they charge AUD$55 per person.
Please note that towels are not included - we recommend that you bring along two towels each (one of the ocean and one for showering).

- Includes your open water manual, passport photos, all gear hire, up to 9 dives on the Outer Reef (4 training dives + up to 5 pleasure dives), 2 nights accommodation and all meals whilst on our ScubaPro Vessel, Cairns and Northern Beaches accommodation transfers (to as far north as Palm Cove).
- Able to be purchased/hired:
- Digital Camera Hire is available on board for AUD$35 per dive - includes images on an SD card. Please note that you will not be able to hire a camera during your training dives.
- What to bring:
- Swimmers, Towels, sunscreen, money for lunch (for the first two days), money for dive medical if you haven't already done your medical prior, we also recommend that passengers only bring a small overnight style bag on the boat. Large suitcases / backpacks can be stored Free of Charge at our Pro Dive Cairns retail shop. If a medical is not done prior to commencement of the course start date - $55 dive medical will be payable direct to doctor. An additional fee of $60.00 per person is payable direct to Pro Dive. This fee consists of a $16.50 ($10.50 as of 01 April 2012) Government Environmental Charge as well as a Port Departure Tax, Fuel levy and administration charges. This charge is applicable to all passengers travelling out on the 3 Day 2 Night Liveaboard Dive trip and all Dive Courses combining the 3 Day trip.

- Children must be a minimum 12 years old to be able to learn to dive with Pro Dive Cairns. Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a parent or adult over the age of 18.

- Cairns and Northern Beaches accommodation transfers (to as far north as Palm Cove) are included, please advise your accommodation place at the time of booking. If you don't know your pick up place prior to your course commencement you will need to make your own way to our training centre located at 116 Spence Street, Cairns for an 08:30am start.

Tour Description
PADI 5 day Learn to dive course starts every day except for Sunday at our PADI 5 star training facility in Cairns.
The PADI open water course is made up of 2 days of pool and classroom training followed by a 3 day 2 night liveaboard dive trip to the Outer Great Barrier Reef. The cost for the course is AUD$775 per person which includes your open water manual, passport photos, all gear hire, up to 9 dives on the Outer Great Barrier Reef (4 training dives + up to 5 recreational dives), 2 nights’ accommodation and all meals whilst on our Scubapro Vessel. Cairns and Northern Beaches accommodation transfers (to as far north as Palm Cove) are also included.
The compulsory dive medical is not included in the price of the course; this is an extra AUD$55 per person and can be done on the first day at our training centre.

The adventure of learning to dive as well as staying out on the Great Barrier Reef for 3 days and 2 nights on one of our premium liveaboard vessels is quite unique and the experience of a lifetime.
Our course includes 9 dives on some of the beter dive sites the Outer Great Barrier Reef has to offer as well as time to snorkel, relax and really enjoy the reef experience. All this makes this course unmatched for experience and value.
Overview
Your 5 Day PADI Learn to Dive Course is broken down into two components - 2 Days of classroom and pool and training at our PADI 5 star training facility in Cairns and then a 3 Day 2 night, 9 dives, liveaboard dive trip to some of the best Outer Barrier Reef dive sites available.
The first two days of your course are spent at our modern training centre learning the theory and practical skills of scuba diving. At the end of day 2 we recommend the option of attending 'Reef Teach'. 'Reef Teach' is a fun and informative marine biology presentation that will greatly enhance your reef experience (Additional cost).
The next 3 days and 2 nights are spent living on board one of our premium liveaboard dive vessels. You'll have the opportunity to participate in 9 dives on a variety of our 16 exclusive dive sites on the outer Great Barrier Reef. Your first 4 dives will complete your open water certification and then as a certified diver you are able to undertake up to 5 more recreational or pleasure dives. One of these dives is a guided night dive! These extra dives will be a highlight of your course and a truly memorable experience.
On the night of your return to Cairns you have the option to join your fellow passengers and the crew for a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.
